Overview

Under the direction of the Chief Tribal Operations & Communications Officer, the Executive Director of Tribal Programs & Services is responsible for leading and directing key community-based departments and supporting program development and services to Chumash Community Members. The Executive Director of Tribal Programs & Services provides leadership and support in the planning, organization, evaluation, and coordination of tribal programs. The Executive Director offers support to the Education Committee, Elders Council, and other committees that serve the tribe. Models the Chumash core values of integrity, accountability, respect, customer care, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administration and operational support to Chumash Fire, Culture, Environmental, Education, and Community Development departments, ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, quality control and evaluation of programs, to serve the best interests of Chumash Community Members. 
  • Ensures that the delivery of Tribal Operations programs and services align with developed strategic priorities and are in the spirit of the organization’s mission, vision, and values. 
  • Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that will maximize the synergies among program areas.
  • Responsible for providing strategic direction, experience, and advocating for appropriate resources to further develop existing programs and introduce new programming.
  • In partnership with the current high-performing management teams and departments, the Executive Director assists in the preparation of operational budgets and accountability of income and expenses and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provides oversight and support for the Professional Development Program, aimed at addressing Tribal Team Member’s career growth.
  • Responsible for developing objective performance measurements across all sites, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all programs and services.
  • Provides overall support to the Chief Tribal Operations & Communication Officer.
  • Accountable for directing, developing, and empowering teams to elevate their levels of responsibility, span of control, and department performance and functions.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive and effective working relationships with tribal members and tribal committees. 
  • Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Law, Public Administration, or similar field.
  • Master’s degree in Public/Business Administration, Law degree, or similar field.
  • Ten years of experience in a Public Administration role with progressive responsibility in a leadership role.
  • Advanced computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and Internet.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.

$163,756.00 annually
