Increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oral health care by performing a variety of office, laboratory and patient care duties.
Responsibilities
Assisting the dentists during a variety of treatment procedures
Helps maintaining clinic inventory
Maintains patient confidentiality
Assists with patient education in post-operative and post-surgical care and oral hygiene.
Processes dental digital x-rays as requested by dentist (e.g., periapical, occlusal, bitewings, sinus and panographic images).
Cleans operatories after each patient.
Assists with sterilizing all dental instruments, and cleans and sets up trays.
Reviews patient charts, charting in electronic dental records system, and clinical notes each day.
Enters patient referrals as needed.
Performs additional patient procedures under the direct supervision of the dentist, including, but not limited to, child prophies, sealants, and tropical fluoride and varnish.
Checks daily schedule to ensure necessary materials are available for patient treatments.
Pours models and creates temporary crowns.
Participates in the overall cleaning and maintenance of the dental department (e.g., operatories, labs, offices).
Complies with all infection control regulations
Cleans traps and lines regularly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licensed by the Dental Board of California as a Registered Dental Assistant.
Basic computer proficiency, including EHR systems, Microsoft Office applications such as Word, and Outlook.
Ability to effectively communicate information clearly and accurately to patients and staff in person and over the phone.
Must understand cultural and social factors that influence health and compliance with appointments.
