Under of the direction of the Education Director, the Career Cultivation Tribal Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the assigned department while engaging in various professional development opportunities. Interns will rotate through various functional areas of the department they are assigned to in order to gain work experience and learn practical skills to complement the students’ education, area of interest, particular field of study, or a college major.
• Shadows multiple functional positions to gain understanding of business objectives, strategies, and processes as well as train in a variety of tasks.
• Completes projects assigned by the respective department or functional area.
• Utilizes department personnel as resources and mentors as needed.
• Attends meetings to understand the goals and direction of assigned projects and current department initiatives.
• Ensures assigned tasks and projects are completed on time and according to communicated standards. Updates management and other Team Members on progress.
• Performs administrative duties including answering phones, filing, data entry, etc.
• Assists in collecting data and preparing reports and presentations as assigned.
• Provides exceptional guest service to external and internal guests.
• Performs related duties as directed.
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
• Must be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
• Knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment.
• Proficient in use of computers, including Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel), databases, e-mail, and Internet.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to give presentations both visual and oral.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
• Ability to work with Team Members and management on a professional level.
• Must be willing to learn.
• Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
• Ability to multi-task, effectively establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Team Member must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
• Must be a SY Chumash Community Member.
