Overview

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing, the Director of Marketing is  responsible for the administration of marketing strategies and initiatives for Chumash Enterprises and subsidiary business units. Responsible for partnering with department management (“clients”) to develop and execute marketing plans. Orchestrates integrated marketing programs based on client objectives and corporate strategies. Acts as the liaison between Chumash Casino Resort (CCR) Marketing and clients to provide effective solutions for client marketing needs while supporting the overall CCR brand.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creation and implementation of department processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for marketing communications, including internal notification to supporting departments.
  • Ensures department business is conducted in accordance with Tribal Gaming Agency regulations and Internal Controls.
  • Responsible for developing a thorough understanding of each client’s business and staying abreast on current objectives and strategies.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of CCR strategic goals and initiatives and how they relate to assigned client.
  • Maintains frequent and consistent communication with clients to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of client needs, issues, and opportunities.
  • Meets with assigned client weekly, spending significant time to gain an understanding of their needs and identify opportunities.
  • Conducts property walk-throughs at least monthly, assessing and understanding usage of internal signage, digital, and collateral.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a successful relationship with the assigned client; creates opportunities for deeper collaboration and interaction.
  • Works closely with and coordinates all creative work with the Creative Services Production Manager or Marketing representatives to develop strategically driven creative, media, public relations, customer relations, digital and social investments of company resources.
  • Manages client expectations and communicates project updates; identifies, articulates, and defends insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Ensures solid understanding of each job from the client prior to submission of each creative request. Ensures all relevant information is captured in the creative request.
  • Reviews all creative to ensure that it reflects defined objectives prior to submission to the client.
  • Guides client in selection of appropriate communication mediums to achieve defined objectives.
  • Supports Executive Director of Marketing with annual planning.
  • Reviews monthly financials and general ledger entries for relevant departments; develops strong understanding of media and advertising budgets.
  • Hires, trains, develops, empowers, coaches, counsels, conducts performance and salary reviews, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, disciplines, and recommends terminations as appropriate.
  • Leads special projects as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Advertising or related field required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Ten years of marketing experience
  • Three years of casino or hospitality industry experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing programs and practices, including advertising, media, and social media.
  • Advanced proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office products and database applications, e-mail, and internet.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
