Overview

Under general supervision of the Clinical Informatics Supervisor, and as a member of the Information Technology (IT) team, the IT Support Specialist provides entry- to intermediate-level technical support and maintenance to various functional areas of the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for resolving IT-related issues, maintaining computer systems and networks, and ensuring smooth operation of technology infrastructure within the clinic environment, end to end.  Your role will involve working closely with medical personnel, administrators, and other IT professionals to deliver efficient and reliable IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support:
    • Responds to inquiries and troubleshoots technical issues related to hardware, software, networking, and other IT systems.
    • Provides prompt and effective resolution to user problems, ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare operations.
    • Installs, configures, and upgrades computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
    • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on computer equipment to ensure optimal performance reliability.
    • Collaborates with vendors and external support teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • User Training and Support:
    • Trains healthcare staff on the proper use of hardware, software applications, and other IT systems.
    • Creates user guides, manuals, and other instructional materials to facilitate user self-help and enhance IT literacy within the clinic.
    • Conducts regular technology training sessions for healthcare personnel to improve their technical skills and awareness.
  • System Administration and Network Management:
    • Monitors and maintains the integrity and security of computer systems, networks, and data.
    • Implements and enforces IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
    • Manages user accounts, permissions, and access levels in accordance with healthcare data privacy and security guidelines.
    • Performs regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard critical data.
  • Hardware and Software Procurement:
    • Collaborates with vendors to identify and evaluate IT products and services that meet the needs of the Tribal Health Clinic.
    • Assists in the procurement process by providing technical expertise and recommendations.
    • Ensures the timely delivery, installation, and configuration of new IT equipment and software.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and support activities.
    • Generates reports on system performance, incident resolution, and service requests.
    • Contributes to devilment of IT-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participates in the after-hours on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of prior experience in Information Technology.
  • Certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) is preferred.
  • Experience in providing technical support in a healthcare environment is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and security issues.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data privacy regulations and security standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Advanced computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and Internet and Electronic Health Records systems.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
