Overview

Under of the direction of the Education Director, the Career Cultivation Tribal Intern supports the day-to-day operations of their assigned department while engaging in various professional development opportunities. The Career Cultivation Tribal Intern rotates through various functional areas of their assigned department to gain work experience and to learn practical skills to complement their education, area of interest, particular field of study, or a college major.

Responsibilities

  • Shadows multiple functional positions to gain understanding of business objectives, strategies, and processes as well as train in a variety of skills.
  • Completes projects assigned by the respective department or functional area.
  • Utilizes department personnel as resources and mentors as needed.
  • Attends meetings to understand the goals and direction of assigned projects and current department initiatives.
  • Ensures assigned tasks and projects are completed on time and according to communicated standards. Updates management and other Team Members on progress.
  • Performs administrative duties including answering phones, filing, data entry, etc.
  • Assists in collecting data and preparing reports and presentations as assigned.
  • Provides exceptional guest service to external and internal guests.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Enrollment and ongoing attendance in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be a Santa Ynez Chumash Community Member.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
  • Sociability and Networking: Socializing effortlessly with other people; at ease when approaching others in social settings and professional relationships.
  • Conceptual Thinking: Understanding a given situation or problem by combining information that is readily available; identifying patterns or connections between situations that are not obviously related; identifying key or underlying issues in complex situations.
  • Computer Literacy: Using computers effectively and efficiently in the working environment.
  • Oral Communication: Shaping and expressing ideas and information in an effective manner.
  • Written Communication: Expressing ideas and opinions clearly in properly structured, well organized, and grammatically correct reports or documents; utilizing language and terminology that is understandable for the reader.
