Overview

Completes a wide variety of general accounting, data processing, and reporting functions in support of the department. Responsible for the end of the month and year, accruals and deferrals, and entries into the company’s accounting ledger. Performs account analysis and ensures that all entries and balances are correct.

 

This role and its function are part of the Accounting shared services model. A Team Member in a shared service structure, works within a dedicated business unit (including people, processes, and technologies) that is structured as a centralized point of service and is focused on defined business functions. These units typically serve multiple business groups enterprise wide, and typically have established Service Level Agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective handling of accounting books and records in compliance with established policy and procedure.
  • Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Produces assigned journal entries.
  • Maintains books and records within the section and reconciles to proof totals on a periodic basis.
  • Prepares accounting statements and reports and ensures proper reconciliation with supporting documentation.
  • Assists with month end closing as directed.
  • Assists with departmental interface with appropriate internal and external departments, agencies, and companies.
  • Receives, balances, collects, and verifies computer accounting data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures supporting documentation is provided.
  • Maintains awareness for discrepancies or suspicious circumstances and investigates as needed.
  • Follows up, to include related correspondence within established guidelines.
  • Assists in research necessary for financial analysis, budgets and operations analysis.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity while observing the highly confidential nature of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Three years of experience in an accounting position.
  • General knowledge of business and accounting systems and methods.
  • General knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules, procedures, and administration is required.
  • General knowledge of budgeting, planning, controls methods, and applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook), and internet research skills.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.

$66,560 annually
