Overview

The Public Safety Assistant Shift Supervisor assists in maintaining the efficient operation of the uniformed Public Safety Team by scheduling, providing training, and assigning duties to Team Members to meet the daily demands of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors floor zones, ensuring Public Safety Officers are responding to calls for service and guest assistance while maintaining a safe and clean environment for guest by pushing in slot machine chairs and picking up trash.
  • Supervises and/or coordinates the slot and table game drop, ensuring proper procedures are completed.
  • Communicates with Floor Operations Shift Manager any issues that need management attention.
  • Ensures the Director of Public Safety Operations is notified, via the chain of command, of any issues that need management attention and any circumstance that may require public safety presence.
  • Ensures communications with internal and external contacts are carried out effectively and professionally.
  • Assists Slot Operations Department with the processing of certain jackpots.
  • Performs personnel actions within procedurally established guidelines.
  • Responsible for scheduling Public Safety Team Members in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, or as directed.
  • Observes and reports suspicious or unusual casino activity.
  • Reports guest complaints related to public safety functions to the Shift Supervisor and Director of Public Safety Operations.
  • Ensures the proper appearance and effective performance of all uniformed Public Safety Team Members (including EMTs in the absence of the EMS Manager).
  • Works closely with all departments to ensure proper coverage, effective utilization of uniformed Public Safety Officers, and compliance with regulations.
  • Supervises and provides guidance to front line Public Safety Officers as directed.
  • Identifies service breakdowns on casino floor and communicates issues to the Shift Supervisor or Director of Public Safety Operations.
  • Relieves Dispatchers for breaks as needed.
  • Trains, mentors, develops, coaches, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, and recommends disciplinary actions as appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of experience in a security-related field, preferably in the gaming, hospitality, or service industry.
  • Two years of experience at a supervisory level preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must have a valid security guard registration on file with the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services within six months of employment.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Must also apply for, receive, and maintain a Tribal Key License through the State of CA Gambling Control Commission.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
