Overview

Under the general supervision of the Education Programs Manager, the Program Assistant supports the implementation and administration of the Education Department’s programs and services. The Program Assistant works directly with community members, Tribal departments, and vendors to sustain operations at the Learning Center and off-site locations for Tribal Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative duties including, but not limited to, tutor payroll processing and timely payment of vendor invoices.
  • Maintains program supplies and inventory.
  • Performs grant budget and activity tracking and compiling data for reporting purposes.
  • Responsible for conveying student acknowledgements and photographs for the Samala magazine.
  • Interfaces and communicates with Chumash community members and outside vendors by phone, email, and in-person to ensure smooth delivery of academic services and daily operations of the Learning Center.
  • Provides education program and service logistics and coordinates assistance including academic services and workshops.
  • Provides other support and administrative work as requested by department leadership.
  • Provides front desk assistance to the general public and community members.
  • Assists with the Homework Club operations and support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • One year of administrative support experience required.
  • Three years prior experience supporting youth and adult program participants in a supportive capacity is preferred.
  • Experience supporting tribal communities highly desirable.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.

Minimum Pay Rate

$25.33 per hour + $5.00 Premium

Maximum Pay Rate

$29.80 per hour + $5.00 Premium
