Overview

As directed by the Food & Beverage Manager, the Food & Beverage Shift Manager supervises the food and beverage activities on an assigned shift, ensuring that guests experience exceptional services and products. Assignments may vary, including, but not limited to, dining room/outlet shift management, monetary tracking, and end of shift reporting.

Responsibilities

Oversees outlet operations during an assigned shift, in collaboration with the Assistant Restaurant Manager or Food & Beverage Manager.

Provides the finest guest dining experience while leading a highly motivated and guest service-focused team.

Participates with all Food & Beverage Shift Management in overseeing outlet operations and supporting all other Food & Beverage operations of the Casino Resort. 

Conducts or ensures pre-shift meetings with staff are held daily.

Supervises dining room/outlet front of house staff.

Ensures that all standards of service are consistent in quality and excellence.

Reviews and maintains the ambiance of the dining room/outlet.

Ensures customer satisfaction and addresses guests’ issues as they arise.

Monitors service and interface with service and culinary teams to ensure outstanding guest service; particular focus to be paid on freshness of food.

Responsible for compliance with cash control procedures and completing related accounting and administrative reports as required.

Accountable for enforcing all schedules and handling of money.

Ensures staff complies with dress code and appearance policies.

Ensures wine, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverage inventory levels are appropriate; may stock and place orders.

May serve guests food and drinks, bus tables, cashier, answer phones, and perform other related duties during peak times or as needed.

Trains, mentors, develops, coaches, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, and recommends disciplinary actions as appropriate.

Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age to sell or serve distilled spirits. Team Members under 21 but at least 18 years of age may sell or serve beer and wine in non-gaming areas.
  • Must obtain food handlers card within 30 days of employment.
  • Must register in the RBS Portal, take training from an authorized RBS Training Provider, and pass the ABC Alcohol Server Certification exam within 30 days of their confirmed training.
  • Five years of prior experience in a high-volume restaurant management and/or supervisory position.
  • Two years of prior experience in front of house operations.
  • One year of culinary experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, rules, procedures, and administration relating to food and beverage operations.
  • Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Basic proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
