Overview

Under the direction of the Executive Steward, the Steward Supervisor is responsible for supervising and overseeing the daily operations of the Stewarding Team. Ensures kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils are in clean and orderly condition. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily supervision of Stewarding Team’s activities.
  • Assists with scheduling and assigning tasks.
  • Maintains and updates kitchen safety data sheets (SDS) books.
  • Recommends guidelines, cleaning standards, and procedures of all kitchen work areas and equipment.
  • Ensures kitchen areas and floors are mopped and swept.
  • Supervises heavy equipment cleaning.
  • Ensures carts are stocked with clean glassware, silverware, and dishes.
  • Ensures worktables, walls, and refrigerators are washed.
  • Ensures segregation and removal of garbage and recyclables, and their placement in designated containers.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Assists in banquet set up and break down of special events.
  • Responsible for all dishwashing areas to ensure prompt and careful sorting and cleaning of dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans, and other related items.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward resort staff, external guests, and vendors.
  • Coordinates and performs quarterly inventories on chinaware, glass, silver, and linen.
  • Assists in securing, counting, and allocating chinaware, glass, silver, and linen for banquets and special events.
  • Trains, mentors, develops, coaches, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, and recommends disciplinary actions as appropriate.
  • Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Must obtain food handler card within 30 days of employment.
  • Three years prior experience in stewarding, dishwashing, housekeeping, or food and beverage is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
