Overview

Under the direction of the Retail Manager the Retail Shift Supervisor is responsible for selling retail merchandise while providing an exceptional guest experience. The Retail Shift Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing Retail operations in the absence of management on an assigned shift.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers exceptional guest service (i.e., prompt, friendly, professional, and responsive), using proper greeting and departure phrases and service standards established by Retail management.
  • Maintains and builds good guest relations.
  • Maintains knowledge about products and communicates with and educates guests.
  • Promotes and uses selling techniques to sell retail merchandise.
  • Responsible for addressing guest concerns and complaints with objectivity and graciousness.
  • Responds appropriately to complex situations that may occur in the retail locations, including problem solving issues with disgruntled guests.
  • Provides training and coaching to the retail staff on job responsibilities and guest service.
  • Responsible for open communication with management to ensure they are made aware of issues, special requests, and other situations that occur in their absence.
  • Ensures retail and storage areas remain neat, tidy, and well stocked.
  • Adheres to, enforces, and communicates to staff on Casino and retail policies and procedures.
  • Trains, mentors, develops, coaches, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, and recommends disciplinary actions as appropriate.
  • Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Retail Management, Hospitality, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years prior experience in retail sales preferably in a hotel or gaming environment.
  • Knowledge of general business practices, including budgeting, accounting, and forecasting.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and internet.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be 21 year of age or older.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
