Overview

The Environmental Technician I assists with the implementation of Tribal Environmental Programs in the areas of native plant surveys and assessments, native plant and native food propagation, wildlife and habitat restoration, water sampling, air quality monitoring, zero waste, hazardous waste, and community education and outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing summary reports documenting data and activities performed in field surveys/assessments.
  • Assists in conducting field surveys and assessments including water resource sampling, biological sampling, air monitoring, zero waste, and hazardous waste in accordance with grant and tribally funded programs.
  • Provides education and outreach on environmental programs to community members.
  • Assists with recording air monitoring data and providing technical support on air monitors.
  • Assists with creating GIS mapping inventories for environmental programs.
  • Assists in zero waste and hazardous waste activities such as reservation clean ups.
  • Assists with gathering of seeds and propagation of seeds for Tribal nursery.
  • Assists with development of habitat restoration plans and invasive species mitigation plans.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years of experience in environmental field work and surveys is required.
  • One year of experience in nursery and plant management and propagation is required.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.

$20.68 per hour
